Years ago, down the road from the original Frog Ranch homestead in Millfield, Ohio, owner Craig Cornett was walking through the woods and came upon a deformed newt. He was curious, and after asking around discovered there had been a chemical spill in that area in the 70s. Craig promised the little guy "I would do anything to help him that I could," and in 2004 he founded Five for the Phibs, which provides funds (5% after taxes of all Frog Ranch profits) for groups dedicated to the study of declining amphibian populations, and to the development and conservation of sustainable habitat.
We are currently working with the Declining Amphibian Population Task Force, scientists at Ohio University, and others to decide where to distribute the funds, which we give on January 30th (Craig's birthday) of every year.
